Dave Henderson
The men of Lynchburg grow mustaches in November. Some do it for pride. Some do it for charity. I do it for both.
I have seen what good work looks like. At Lynchburg Grows, people dig in the earth and grow food that feeds more than hunger. At CVU, children learn the hard lessons of the game: to fight, to lose, to rise again. Those things matter. They build a kind of strength that lasts when the cheering stops.
So I grow a mustache. It is a small thing, but it carries weight. It reminds me to give, to show up, to be part of something better than myself. It also irritates Chris Boswell, the man who started this whole thing. That alone makes it worth doing.
He will see me at each check-in. The mustache will be there before him. It will be slightly transparent, and terrible. It will be my silent protest and my badge of honor.
Give if you can. Give because it helps the children, the gardens, and the teams. Or give because it will make Chris Boswell sigh when he sees my face. Either way, your money will do good work. Cheers, Dave
